On Behalf of Lismore Mochuda Development Company Ltd., I would like to welcome you to our website lismore-ireland.com.
Lismore is a very historic town nestling on the banks of the river Blackwater and just south of the Knockmealdown Mountains. The town was established in 635 AD by St. Carthage (Mochuda) who set up a monastic settlement. This blossomed into an ecclesiastical university where many Irish Saints, who evangelised Europe during the dark ages, studied. The most prominent landmark in the town is Lismore Castle, Irish home of the Duke of Devonshire.
The Lismore Mochuda Development Company Ltd was founded in 1996 to promote the development of tourism and employment opportunities in the town. We have established an impressive track record. Our most ambitious project to date has been the new millennium park which, together with Waterford County Council, we completed in 2002. In 2003 we engaged in two further projects. The first was the construction of an enterprise Centre at Mayfield, Lismore, which we are building with Lismore Business Park Ltd. The second is an International Cultural Festival called the Immrama Festival. Taking place on the last weekend of June it celebrates travel writing and music.
