About Lismore Mochuda Development Company
On Behalf of Lismore Mochuda Development Company Ltd., We would like to welcome you to our website.
Lismore is a very historic town nestling on the banks of the River Blackwater and just south of the Knockmealdown Mountains. The town was established in 635 AD by St. Carthage (Mochuda) who set up a monastic settlement. This blossomed into an ecclesiastical university where many Irish Saints, who evangelised Europe during the dark ages, studied. The most prominent landmark in the town is Lismore Castle, Irish home of the Duke of Devonshire.
The Lismore Mochuda Development Company Ltd was founded in 1996 to promote the development of tourism and employment opportunities in the town. We have established an impressive track record. Our most ambitious project to date has been the Millennium Park which, together with Waterford County Council, we completed in 2002. This park has become one of the key attractions in the town. Following on from this, in 2003, we developed an enterprise centre just outside the town on the Mayfield Road, the Lismore Business Park. This consists of 5 individual units which are available for lease and offices which are currently let.
Lismore Mochuda is also very proud of our community initiatives, Lismore Farmers Market and Immrama. The Lismore Farmers Market operates every Sunday from March until September in the Castle Avenue and offers everything from pizza to crepes to flowers to cakes. Whatever your fancy, the Market is sure to please. The Immrama Travel Writing Festival runs in June every year and celebrates travel writing and music. The Festival continues to grow in popularity each and every year.
Lismore Farmers Market
The Lismore Farmers Market is held in the Lismore Castle Avenue, with the kind permission of Lismore Estates, from March to September, 11.00 a.m. - 4.00 p.m. Lismore Mochuda operates a Facilitated Entrepreneurship Scheme where we can offer the use of a gazebo and a generator to a stallholder for 3 consecutive weeks. They can also attend the Market free of charge. This is to facilitate perhaps a new venture or enterprise. The gazebos and generator were purchased with the support of Waterford Leader Partnership, which we are very grateful for.
